Online reputation matters: a recent BIA/Kesler Group study says 97% of consumers use the Internet to research products or services in their local area.

Pew Internet did a study on Reputation Management and Social Media and that your online reputation can have a huge impact on your business.

What types of people are most likely to research businesses online? Here’s what the study says:

• College grads – 58%
• Higher income groups – 58% of people who make $75,000 or more
• White internet users – 46%
• Parents – 49%
• Broadband users – 49%
• Wireless users – 50%
• Social networking users – 56%

According to INC. Magazine’s article on April 23, 2010 “Why Social Media” 91% of all businesses are attempting to use social media to promote themselves in 2010.
